The western pond turtle has long nails. It has brown skin and a brown shell. It's eyes are very small. It can grow up to 14- 22 cm long.

Habitat

The diet of western pond turtles are yellow lily, water plants, insects, small fish, worms, and crustaceans.

   

The western pond turtle lives in ponds. They also live in marshes and streams in CA.

Their predators are raccoons, coyotes, raptors, weasels and bull frogs.

Western pond turtles cant swallow food out of water. Western pond turtles are very shy. Western pond turtles can breath through their skin.
